PSP Network

Go Wireless!
Experience the freedom of Wi-fi functionality and communicate with other PSP® systems, download content, and compete against other players by connection to a wireless local area network (WLAN). Free yourself from wires and you’ll be free to use your PSP® network features anywhere, anytime.

Ad Hoc

The PSP® wireless network supports two modes of connection: Infrastructure and Ad Hoc. Ad Hoc mode allows multiplayer gaming and photo sharing with other PSP® systems in the area, without the need for an internet connection.

Multiplayer Gaming
Ad Hoc Mode allows multiple PSP® systems to communicate with each other within a limited range. You can play together in a house, a backyard, an airport, a lobby, or anywhere! Depending on the game, up to 16 PSP® systems within range of each other can be connected using Ad Hoc Mode, allowing for wireless head-to-head competition.

Photo sharing
You can share photos by transferring them to another PSP® through a wireless network connection in the Ad Hoc Mode.

Infrastructure (Access through WLAN)

The PSP® wireless networking Infrastructure mode allows you to use the PSP® web browser to connect to the internet to do anything from playing games online, to downloading exclusive PSP® online content, or surfing the web and performing Network Updates.

Access to HOTSPOTS!
Connect to the internet with the PSP® web browser through any of the many hotspots near you for Wi-Fi internet access. Check with the Internet Service Provider (ISP) to find your nearest hotspot.

Multiplayer Gaming
Use the PSP® wireless internet connection to play with people across the globe, all from the comfort of your living room! Just check the back of the game packaging to see if it supports Infrastructure mode, connect to the internet, insert the UMD™ game disc, and start playing online!

Network Updates directly
Use the PSP® Network Update feature to update your PSP® system software. The Network Update feature uses the PSP® web browser to download the newest update data from the internet and then installs it on your PSP®.

Game, music, video and more downloads
Unleash the potential of your PSP® by downloading cool stuff and transferring it to your PSP®. You can use the PSP® wireless internet connection to download movies, videos, games and more, from the internet. Just connect your PSP® to the internet, use the PSP® web browser to go find the content you want, and then save it to the Memory Stick Duo™ in you PSP®.

RSS feeds
Enjoy video web feeds, weblogs, or podcasts from any of thousands of websites. Using the PSP® system’s RSS Channel feature, you can add link information to a channel list that will enable your PSP® to link to web pages that provide RSS or podcast-distributed content. Save RSS or podcast content to your Memory Stick Duo™ and enjoy it on the go.
